HOW DOES IT WORK?

The Alpha IPL treatments use light energy at different wavelengths to target many indications such as photo rejuvenation, pigmentation, facial and leg vascularity's, as well as acne. The intense pulse light is converted into heat once in the skin causing a controlled trauma, triggering a form of wound healing. A course of treatment will be required and the amount of treatments will vary dependent on the indication being treated. Maintenance treatments may be required following the course. Results cannot be guaranteed and will vary.

The treatments use Intense Pulsed Light technology (IPL) to target and stimulate skin cells for outstanding long-term results, resolving common skin concerns including skin rejuvenation, pigmentation control, rosacea and redness reduction, spider vein reduction and acne control. DO THE TREATMENTS HURT?

Formatk 3D IPL Skin Treatments are designed to ensure maximum comfort, and are considered to be less painful than other IPL treatments. Most patients report minimum discomfort.

WHEN WILL I SEE RESULTS?

After one session, you may start to see results. However, the accumulative effect will be noticed after several treatments and you can expect long-term results. Please note, every patient is unique and results may vary.

WHAT SKIN TYPES ARE TREATABLE?

Formatk’s IPL technology can treat skin types 1-3. It is important that you have no active tan at the time of treatment.

HOW LONG DO THE RESULTS LAST?

Some skin types and conditions don’t require any maintenance, while others generally need maintenance sessions every 6-12 months. Your practitioner can best advise depending on your specific needs.

HOW LONG DO THE TREATMENTS TAKE?

Treatment time varies depending on the treatment, the individual and the area being treated. On average, a treatment will take around 30-45 minutes

WHAT DOES THE TREATMENT INVOLVE?

Before your treatment you will need to come for a consultation and patch test to assess the area & make sure you are suitable for treatment.

24-48 hours following your patch test you can book your first treatment. All hair in the treatment area must be shaved or trimmed 12 - 24 hours prior to your appointment to ensure the skin is not sensitive from shaving.

The treatment area will be cleansed and prepared for treatment with a cool ultrasound gel applied.

Protective goggles are worn by the patient and practitioner to ensure full safety protocols are adhered to.

Your skin type in the treatment area will be assessed using the MILO skin reader and details entered into the Formatk IPL device to retrieve your bespoke treatment settings.

The IPL is applied and a warm, ping sensation can be felt along with a flash of light being seen (your eyes are fully protected from this at all times).

After the treatment the area is cleaned and a cooling aloe gel & SPF is applied

Cool packs can be applied to reduce the sensation of heat.

It is advisable to avoid all heat treatments, swimming & high intensity exercise for 24-48 hours post treatment. It is also advised to avoid direct sunlight and to protect your skin from UV rays throughout your treatment course.
